The 24-h clock thing, can't be a british thing given that in the US military, time is given on the 24-hour clock. "at fourteen-hundred hours -" Well, not quite, but you know, speak the numbers as if it was a number, rather than a time. aka 1400 not 14:00.

It's a military thing all over the world. It's also used in airports (not at the terminal but behind the scenes, maintaince etc).
