Roch..er Sionnach, your sig is where I got the idea to watch Father Ted. Got to see all but the Chrismassy Ted on youtube. I'm buying this on DVD, if it is on DVD. Wish Dermot Morgan were alive to give DVD commentary.

If you want to see the Christmas episode, it's viewable in its entirety on Channel 4's website here. Dunno if you can see it or not.

I'm unable to see it. It's only for Ireland and the U.K. I've been youtubed.

Was the show controversial in Ireland?

To be perfectly honest, I can't remember any complaints about the show. I'm sure there was the occasional complaint, but we're a lot less uptight about what's obviously a parody than other countries (odd, considering our historicaly strong Catholic faith).

Interestingly, the only controversy that Wikipedia lists to have occurred over the show is where two islands - Inis OÃrr and Inis MÃ³r - both claimed to be the "true" Craggy Island. The dispute was settled via a football match, which Inis MÃ³r won 2-0, claiming the title of Craggy Island. Inis OÃrr was then given the title of Rugged Island - Craggy Island's neighbour.

I don't know what possessed me to do it but i decided to look This up just now. I always liked the song, and I get a little teary-eyed if I think about it too much. Read the story in the description as well.
