Just something bladed, and reusable. It's more cost-effective that way.

Usually, a blade that relied on sharpness would blunt itself partway through the spinal column. True beheading swords were heavy, with a very thick cross-section and often no point, and relied on the weight of the blow chopping through the neck, rather than cutting through. European ones looked similar to hand-and-a-half or two-handed swords, with much smaller quillons, but the Chinese made a very specific, single-edged, one with little or no quillons. I'll see if I can find a pic.

I love swords. I always have since I was a boy. I used to have a sword collection, but I lost them all when my house got burglerized. In fact, I'm giving serious consideration to taking up fencing at the community center by my place. They teach the epee, foil, and saber.

Changed the first pic. Tough to see the end but it is squared, and the blade has a flatter cross-section rather than the diamond cross-section of a combat blade.

Mark - fencing is a lot of fun. I fenced saber in college. Better get to stretching, though.

Lightsabers are better.

Yeah, it looks like it would require quite a bit of flexablitity. Are the basic techniques really tough to learn?

No, no. Not cost effective. Bullets are expensive; blades can be re-sharpened and used over and over.

And lightsabers don't need to even be sharpened.

How about we just hang them? We can re-use the rope again and again.
