I think Reed is probably the only character that was any good at anything, even if he was a pyromaniac with an annoyingly depressive outlook on...well everything. It seems as if they went for the stereotypical brit (grumpy, moaning about everything, very respective of due process and order) and amplified it to extreme levels.
