Akira isnt really an explorer. Why not choose a more exploration type ship.

i think novas are pretty sweet too... bit small for my tastes but i love the way they look.

Yeah I may build them a bit bigger but they are such cool sensibal ships.

In case I should come across some hostiles. A Galaxy is a bit too big and too bulky for me.

Of course, an Excelsior would be nice, too. As would an Intrepid.

The D'Deridex and the Negh'var both have their nacelles held away from the main body of the ship, albeit not as far, and not by so flimsy pylons as the Feds. The D'Kora does have integrated nacelles, so it may represent the upper limitof the "integrated nacelle" design.

Of coarse they care. If a design flaw like that killed warriors before they could die an honorable death, that Klingon's family would send him to Sto-Vo-Kor by killing the ship's designer and his house. It would be more likely that Klingons are more resistant to any side effects from the nacelle

Those two ships are integrated designs. The nacelles of the Negh'var are embedded in the hull, though they bulge outward. The Romulan ship uses the hull itself to act as pylons, but without an MSD we'd have no way of knowing what the surrounding areas are used for.

IIRC, the nacelles on the D'Deridex are held outward by upper and lower struts, with a good deal of empty space between.

Hmm, perhaps that's the reason for that massive waste of space in the D'Derix class?

I still think it was just a bad design.

I agree; the point remains, though, that the D'Deridex does have a good deal of separation between the main hull and the nacelles.

The ship should have been twice of what it was, it failed to do what starfleet did with half the size.

True, but Starfleet may have the advantage in technology.
