I never really considered Genesis to be the same without Peter Gabriel. Neither Collins-led Genesis nor solo Gabriel either matched the quality of the two combined.

I agree, but I also like them separately.
Ironic, isn't it?

In the category of one short step from pure noise:
Cavalera Conspiracy - Sanctuary
Static X - Get to the Gone Yeah it's an AMV but all else I could find were live recordings.

I've actually never heard Genesis with Peter Gabriel as the lead.

So, I was somewhat nervous when I heard
Alice In Chains was reforming (with Layne Staley dead, I didn't see it working at all), but it appears my fear was unfounded. The first two singles from the new album
Black Gives Way To Blue are awesome.
AIC got me through some rough spots in my life, and they've come back exactly when I needed them. Makes me feel all warm and fuzzy; I can almost be optimistic.
But I won't.

Couple of things, I don't know why I choose now to post them.
First, although the first thing that comes to mind when someone says "Danny Elfman" is "riding Tim Burton's coattails," his band Oingo Boingo was one of the most underrated acts of the '80's.
Wild Sex (in the Working Class)
Stay
Only a Lad
Second, one of the greatest products of Texas ever (present company excepted, Tsu) - the Reverend Horton Heat
Wiggle Stick
Big Red Rocket of Love
a treatise on the state of the Texas farm industry
Mandatory C&W my-woman-left-me song,
Where in the Hell Did You Go
anthem of the married
the bright side of divorce
Just heard this one (I don't listen to the radio much)
Halestorm - I Get Off

Mmm, Alice in Chains. Never thought I'd see the day.
