Yeah, I would imagine none of the super modern warships, and none of the super weapon ships. Size limitations can be easily hammered out. I'm all for the 1600 m limit, you'd just have to write in a decent explanation as to how you acquired that size of ship.

Seems simple enough. I had plans too mod my own as soon as I gathered the credits to do so.

I think there should be a ceiling as to how many credits you have, dependent on your profession. And i would say that choosing a profession would also be wise. It could add alot of variance into the gameplay, and make it as realistic as possible.

Agreed. A starting limit is a very good idea.

It stands to reason that a high born Naboo politician would have better credit reserves than a middle class mercantile from Tatooine for instance.

I would also make it known to players that we encourage them to pick lower professions as well as higher ones. We need a nice mix.

True true. Someone who isnt well known could perform tasks that a well known person couldnt.

Indeed. Having a good mix of characters would make things interesting.

Be out of the box people. This your chance to let your hair down, and be mad so to speak.

Ok, tell me what you think of this concept. A renegade Alderainan (spelling) prince who NEVER believed in pacificism, abandons his family and sets out on his own in the seedy underworld. After a time, his family is assassinated, (the beginning of the rise of the Empire perhaps?) leaving him as the sole heir to their fortune, with which he commissions his own ship be built and becomes a somewhat successful smuggler and pirate. That explains how he aquires his flagship, would explain a decent amount of smaller support craft, and provide interesting RP oppertunities.

Opinions?

Please no one come from Tatoonie. I'm sick of that planet. Make up a new desert world already Lucas!

I like it. Plus, since you are from a influencial name, on the border worlds your name would carry some political clout. You could rally minor systems and stations to follow your lead if you wished.

Which means at some point the rebals would be seeking my service. Ha ha. I didn't even think about that

Sounds fine. There were a large number of people from that world that didn't agree with the pacificism ideal. You could quickly end up owning your company of sorts. Or just run a group of people that make you profit.

For some reason I'm becoming less and less interested. I'll think I'll sit this one out.

OK, help me out here. We have a total size limit of, say, 1600m. Does that mean we can choose to have a 1600m ship or two 800m ships or four 400m ships?

Now, we're talking about modding or personalizing ships. How much does each type of mod cost, what is each type of mod's effect in game terms, and how do we pay for them? Is there a starting pool of money? Can we increase it by borrowing from your friendly neighborhood Hutt?

If we design our own ship from the ground up, do we have a set amount of "build points" or credit with which to build it, shield it, arm it, etc? And how much firepower/shielding/hyperspeed/etc. can we get per credit?

Seafort - I think any game with even "just" a Culture ROU - say, a Psychopath-class - would be over pretty quickly.
