instead of giving up whatever else the Romulans might have asked for - something perhaps a little dearer, like inhabited planets, etc.

As much as I hate to say it I get the feeling the Federation will bend over backwards for peace. Thus they would sign anything to prevent war.

:::the necromancer strikes again:::: :vamp2:

After the TNG Tech Manual, it's not like we didn't KNOW that the E-D wasn't gonna get destroyed, right? After reading that chapter in the end of the book, about the "visions" they were having for the E-E already. But, it was a REALLY weak way, for a ship I came to love, to go down.

Hey Mark, just a suggestion. On threads like these, that have been dead for a while, it is udually better for you to just start a new one.

Back on topic, yes it was a terrable way for the Enterprise I grew up with to go down.
It should have been from... two Klingon Vorchas.

Three Vorchas, in a pitched battle.

The crash sequence was brilliant, but shields or not, the Enterprise should have been able to take that Klingon ship. A full weapons burst should have done it.

It was pretty pathetic to be honest. the E-D should have blown that klingon ship to hell in seconds, shields or not.

Indeed. Purely ridiculous.
I mean, I hated that ship, but I'd like it to at least have gone down with a little dignity.

Yes, even in death the GCS is a disapointment.
Man, is there anything that ship did right?

Yep. The destruction of the Yamatowas well done, IMO.
