Okay, forget WMD's... why not just create smaller versions and modify them to wipe out all living matter, but not directly harm the mechanics of a ship. Seems like an alright idea.

Well think about it. I'm not saying lets use it as a front line defense, but damn, throw it against the Borg or any major incursion.

Hmm, Genesis Torp V Borg Cube. Sounds like fun.

Yeah, but imagine if they managed to assimilate the Genesis Torpedo?

They'd have to capture an intact version first. Or do you mean adapt to it?

If they did adapt to it, they might be able to capture one, or at least enough of one to figure out the schematics and how to build one of their own. That's kind of scary, they could use it to adapt any world to their needs.

Aside from the splinter groups, have we seen the Borg actually base themselves on a planet?

Well, they'd have to have a homeworld at some point in history, and they did assimilate earth in an alternate timeline(FC).

I'm not sure about basing, but they certainly seem to inhabit planets, such as the one in "Scorpion" that 8472 blew up.

OK. I don't know how much they'd use it in its weapon capacity, though - it would destroy all the potential new drones on a planet.

Maybe they would be able to modify it to assimilate all living creatures on a planet at once. That would be very bad.

How could it possibly do that?

I suppose it would be possible if they were able to modify the genesis wave to carry nanoprobes. That's a bloody big "if" though.
