No I didn't....

I imagine they'd have torn out all the science equipment and other non-essentials, reduced the size of crew quarters by quite a bit, and used the space they had after that to shove more power generators, shield systems and torpedoes in.

It would be a lot more powerful is they did that.

Honestly I think they probably filled up some of the empty space, took out some of the science stuff and put in a new core, and by the looks of it they got a bit of armour as well.

Wonder if they ever got around to making it independantly warp capable.

I doubt it. No sign of nacelles, no mention of an auxiliary core (which would defeat the purpose of making room, anyway.) And they probably wouldn't want to separate the war-upgraded models - there's be no civvies to evac, and as has been discussed elsewhere, you stand to lose weaponry and possibly power generation when you release the saucer.

Still, they COULD have installed those Prommie style retractable nacelles in the undercarrage. But your right. From a strictly offensive standpoint, not much would be gained by seperating the ship. You want to concentrate fire, not divide it.

I have to say though, the Uprated GCS from the DW did show a hell of a lot of improvement.
