Urban dictionary:
coon: It comes from the term baracoons (a cage), where they used to place Africans, who were waiting to be sent to America to be slaves.
coon : Originally a shortened form of the word "raccoon," used in reference to the animal. The black eye masks and noctural habits of the animal paralleled the characteristics of typical robbers and thiefs. The stereotype was then applied to black people.
coon : The use of this term as an ethnic slur derives from the practice of using coonhounds (dogs trained to hunt raccoons) to recapture escaped black slaves.

I thought the coonhound wasn't developed until well after Abolition.
I'd be interested to see where the term "kike" comes from.

Friday I'll be going to the Today show, really early, so we can get the front of the line to see the Fray, in person, I so hope I get an autograph, and then the next week I'll be going to see Rob Thomas...
And I have to do my AP English Summer project, Which is like 3 essays, 2 of which are 2 pages long, and then a 3 page one... This is gonna be fun.

Actually, he likes the Fray, and since they are there, he'd be there even if it involved federal crimes... ok maybe not that badly.

A very nice... band. I hate that word. It sounds... lamish. Oh well.
They have good, meaningful music, "How to Save a Life" being one of their most popular songs.

Why wouldn't you take me as that kind of guy? Idk about over in Hawaii, but here in NY we are really big on our morning news shows... And also I love the Fray, their songs have meaning it isn't someone complainging about how their gf broke up with them, or how they got drunk and laid... Each song tells a deep story about on of the musicians lives. One of my favorite, Build then we Break, is about a friend getting out of a nasty relationship, and as you listen to you, you realize how close he is to this girl, and that she's like a sister to him, and the guy who was abusive, basically gets kicked to the curb. It tells such an involved story about his relationship with people and his friends... It's just amazing, and it comes with a great beat too...
