Hell I would have even done on Enterprise... well maybe not Enterprise but anything else trek related.

Yeah, that was a bit of a let-down. Some aspects of Nemesis were rather good, IMO. I think everyone should give this a chance at least. Zachary Quinto is a rather good actor (on Heroes, anyway), and JJ Abrams (and writing staff) have done well with Lost, so I think this might have a chance of working.

I'll wait for it to come to the 10$ DVD bin, Trek has pretty much burned it's bridges for me. Unless there is a pretty stunning trailer I don't intend to see it in theatre based on what we're seeing so far.

As I had mentioned earlier, I'm VERY wary of the fact that Abrams has said as much as he won't let established 'Trek continuity stand in the way of his story. However, I am intrigued to see a 'Trek film that is directed by someone other than a 'Trek vet, and who has learned to direct from other-than-'Trek experience.

Of course, I'm going to see it no matter what, because "Star Trek" is in the title.

Abrams isn't a Trek-vet, but one of the writers says he has 'immediate recall of all things Trek'. A bold claim, to be sure, but at least the guy cares about the franchise, and hopefully, continuity.

Oh, and hey Cpl Kendall, $10 in the bargain bin is still $9 in Paramount's pocket, so that will still help keep Trek going! (I do agree that the franchise has worn a bit thin. Maybe some new blood will help.)

Just wait until they show it on TV. Then you can watch it for free.

You've got me there. I have friends that work at the Alamo Drafthouse, though, so I'll probably see it for free (plus the cost of a few beers).

So what do we all hope for with movie number eleven then? What would we all like to see in it?

I never had so big a problem with Enterprise so I'm going to be really curious to see if they include any continuity from ENT into the movie. Any mentions of Archer or the Xindi attack? Maybe the NX01 in the background as a museum piece outside Starfleet Headquarters? Charles Tucker III resurrected in a temporal incident brought on by his electricution suicide? T'Pol as an old lady Vulcan? Malcolm finally relaxing his sphincter?? Sure, the technology will be a known quantity because it's early TOS era so I guess the writers don't need to worry so much about that but I'd love to see a really good effort at continuity and fitting in with the generally accepted cannon. Am also really curious to see how the actors will play the roles. Will they go for a carbon copy imitation of the originals as a base and embellish the role with their own personalities? I don't know, all round I'm very curious to see how it all pans out and can't wait for next year for the next Trek fix Would love to hear all your thoughts too...

I'm thinking they wont include any ENT beyond maybe a passing comment about the Xindi attack or something.

They know ENT was unpopular and they wont want to taint the new movie with it.

I figure and am hoping for a complete reboot. Trek's continuity is screwed beyond measure and Abrams doesn't strike me as the kind of guy to work within the established universe *cough*transformers*cough*. And honestly after two dismal series and two bombed movies, they need a fresh direction to save the franchise.

As far as characters, I'd like to not see xerox copies. Different actors = imperfect copies; and this is supposed to take place before a/o during some of the events that shaped the characters we know from TOS. I'd like to see the building blocks of the established characters, rather than imitations.

My bet is that they will make this movie pretty much as if no other Trek exists. They will keep the broad strokes - the Enterprise, Starfleet, Romulans as bad guys, etc - but that's all.
