I think he was trying to say that the other shows, I.E. TNG were not necessarily "America-Centric". RK, I'm guessing here. anywhere near right?

For the most part, yeah. Crusher was mentioned a page ago in a series of lists of where the humans came from. She sounds American, but she's not from the former USA. Same with ENT.
