Hell, the original Half Life and its many expansions have heavily outdated graphics today, but I still love playing them.

No, a Hardcore Gamer likes story and a point... those who look at Graphics as their biggest concern just want to see something shiny... a flashlight and a beer can should suffice...

Incorrect, for the most part in modern context. story does not drive games anymore. There are some old timers that play older story based games, but look at all the games frequented by the hardcores and they will have at least acceptable graphics.

What's your answer for Fallout, MoO2, KOTOR, Arcanum: Of Steamworks and Magick Obscura, Planescape Torment and fraggin Ultima IV?

Yes the current definition of "hardcore gamer" is someone who likes flashy graphics and bugger else, which is why Halo sells so well. And it's probably why the majority of games suck ass, especially for PC.

Edit: I'm sure everyone here remembers Jade Empire, which was KOTOR in fanatsy China. But it had nice graphics and so sold well, despite having a very similar story.

Halo is alright. The story is fairly good, but its a bit featureless.

KOTOR II= Fantastic game. but the graphics are ok.

Masters Of Orion (specifically #2), widely recognised as one of the best space strategy games of all time.

I specified KOTOR, not KOTOR II. Whose story was incomplete thanks to a rush job and suffered horribly for it.

You could of course take the time to educate yourself about them and try them out.

They could have used the exact same effects they used for the phase cannons and just called them lasers. There, no contradictions.

They didn't commit genocide, they just didn't give something to help a dying species. Why should they be expected to do charity work for every dying race they come across?

Going after someone for personal revenge when just a few episodes earlier you prevented someone from doing so is not flawed or realistic.

I'd say that's a flaw. Along the lines of "Do as I say not as I do."

2) I-dont-have-time. Plus i dont have money. And some of the older games conflict badly with my computer because of vista and we dont have any XP running machines in the house anymore.

You can find all sorts of these things on the net or from older friends, just get an emulator. In fact in Vista you can choose to run the program as a Windows version all the way back to '95.

so with the Naked now/time Dear data/doctor thing, in that respect were merely proven that enterprise is no different from TNG. IN that respect. TNG is far superior in others.

Besides what bothered me so much about that episode was the "evolution" proposed by Phlox, for this he should have had his medical license suspended, his failure to act under his people version of the Hippocratic Oath, which on Denobula only stops a Doctor from helping if the Patient expressly wishes it, in this case they did the exact opposite... and of course the ultimate slam, Obeying the Prime Dir3ective before it even exists...

Thats a Character who is not understood by the writers... to change so quickly with no real reason for it means that they didn't even bother to look up their character's history...

TNG has the advantage that if they pillaged TOS, they usually pillaged the aborted Phase 2 scripts rather than an outright grab from TOS itself.
