Um, it was designed to carry fighters. Those two big hanger bays on the side of the ship didn't just happen by accident.

What I ment was it was not a carrier, its primary mission was not to carry them, it just had them as an added extra. Thus it wouldnt have lots of them.

Wasn't the first starship they had built to be a carrier? Though be it a small one.

I believe it's designation was DSC--Deep Space Carrier.
