The handbrake. Dunno what it's got to do with emergencies though - I only use it as a precaution against rolling when I'm stopped.

The brick is for when the parking brake does not work. Usually keeps the car from moving.

The brick is because Seafort didn't realize that the pedal-activated type of e-brake locks down, and he thought you'd have to put a brick on the pedal. Seafort - it uses a separate pedal, all the way over by the door jamb.

Ah, right ho. Can't say I've ever heard of it though. How is it released - you wouldn't have the thumb-button of a normal handbreak.

The models I've seen have a release on the console above the pedal. An upside down grip is necessary, then pull it out to release. Makes a bang and isn't subtle in the least.

When the emergency brake pedal is engaged, a second firm step on it will release it.

You silly Americans with your strange names for things. Gear stick is moved by left hand. Hand break is aswel. Drive on left side.

Ah, but what better way to show independence than defiantly standing tall and proclaiming - "We'll show them - we'll drive on the other side of the road!"
