Well, I know this much: I know what my answer would be if an R&D team came to me and said, "We can put this awesome, amazing, coolest-thing-ever super-instant-death ray on the ship, but you'd have to give up the almost-never-used and somewhat nonsensical function of saucer separation. What do you think?"

Did someone say something?

Indeed. Even ignoring the fact that saucer seperation is never used in most situatons, there'd be even less reason to use it on a warship. Particularly if it means losing power to your main weapon.

I imaging it would a sh*t load of power.

I think for a weapon that cuts through a Negh'Var like a hot knife through butter, the use of a lot of power is a safe assumption.

Indeed, that was my reasoning for it.

Thus you need an even bigger power plant or less things using power.

Well on that note, the only weapon the AGT-ED used was the phaser lance. Granted that seemed to be more then enough. None of her other weapons were firing. This may be a hint to the amount of power needed. I think we need someone good with math (That sure as hell ain't me!) to try and figure the amount of power used for the lance. Maybe the lance was an anti-borg weapon?

It could very well be.

It would make sense to have a weapon that is able to take out the cube before it could adapt.

Or destroy other serious threats like a Neg'var as quickly as possible. The lance was probably the primary assault weapon while the other arrays were used more defensively or for close quarters combat against more maneuverable targets

That was the very same thought I had in mind for the DITL Battleship.
Good call, I like you again.

So for weapons should we have a set of lances on the DITL ship?
