Huh. I run into old friends all the time, and, while we're not as close, we're all still friends.

I'm actually still very close with a couple of friends from eighth grade (about 112 years ago, for me.)

maybe its an american thing. My parents for instance never talk to any of their school friends. I dont really WANT to encounter many of my classmates.
