Well, yesterday was busy; I got on a ladder and cleaned out the rain gutters, then put some more caulking on a spot where rain was leaking down into the roof overhang. Then later, I made steak (which came out a little more well than I prefer, but it's still delicious), and had to go out into the garage, get one of my grandfather's power drills (I guess it's technically my drill now, but old habits, etc.), and fix the mountings on the dishwasher.
I feel pretty good, having actually done something that matters.

Firefox on my home PC is borked up. Not sure what it is but about once every half hour it just up and dies on me. Tonight I'll be installing Opera.

Nope, not wanted at all. But such is life. It rarely asks you what you what you want, just kinda deals it out.

Absolutely true.

Really? That must not have been painful at all for you.
I think that's on my honeydew list for tomorrow; gutter cleaning and spraying for carpenter bees while I'm at it. Can't see from the ground where they're digging, but it's got to be a difficult spot because all the structural wood in my house is sheathed by aluminum siding. Oh, and powerwashing the house and deck, and then maybe staining the deck, and then 'scaping some of the shrub beds, and spreading some spring fertilizer on the back lawn, and then the liquid anti-skeeter application we use, and then measuring the window screens we're replacing, and then replacing the flood bulbs in the back yard (which are 25' off the ground.) And then in the afternoon taking Zach for a christening outfit.
Thank the Lord I have to work on Wednesday.

Honestly, it sucked.

Taking care of a house is pretty much a full time job in of itself. Of course, after living in that dismal apartment for the last six years, I'm perfectly glad to have maintenance to do on the house.

As tough as it is to stay on top of things, I wouldn't trade it for my old apartment-dwelling lifestyle.
On a side note, speaking of landscaping...
Last week, while watching the cinematic masterpiece Beverly Hills Chihuahua with my daughter, I made a comment (which I thought was under my breath) about a number of Mexicans currently residing in the US. Last night at dinner with my parents, my dear little girl was telling her grandparents about the movie and explained that "Mexico is where landscapers come from."

I raked up my lawn today, cleaned my room, the spare bedroom and reorganized my bookshelves. Tomorrow I register my mother's car and clean my own car.

Send it through the paper shredder?
Oh, wait; I mean "do your civic duty".

Last time I got jury duty I went. I went in the first group, answered the lawyer's questions honestly, and got the rest of the day off with full pay from my work.

Here, they just pay you $50 a day. If your job doesn't want to pay you, they don't have to.
