I'll see if I can find the time to put something concrete together for the Daystrom, but I can't make any promises. Doesn't truly affect the RP too much, though.

Cool
I'm just a facts and figures kind of guy. That's what led me to the DITL in the first place

I'm posting the final poll for the Paladin tonight, after that we will have solid stats for it, everything else will be standard DITL figures but just stonger, we can assume everything is a bit better due to upgrades but since everything is better equally its not hugely relivant.
But as Mikey said, really fine numbers arent hugely important so much as a general feel for things. The Paladin is big, slow and strong, The Daystrom is a bit of a glass canon, huge foward fire but rather weak armour and average cover fire.

I'm going to post an update for the Daystrom... no changes to the firepower, maybe jsut some new shield tech and up-armor it. I'll run it through the calculator and put it up here for review. You know I'm against fanboy-ism, so there won't be anything major.

Like I said, nothing major. I left the speed the same, considering any engine improvements to trade off with the new shield draw and greater armor mass. Ideas are welcome.

Not enough improvements IMO - those stats are virtually identical to the one we already had in the beta mission. The armour should be ablative, phasers a bit more powerful, perhaps a type 1 burst fire quantum torpedo tube, stronger shields. And this version would probably be about 5.0. Perhaps a slight speed improvement too - I know there's only so much you can do, but I think a maximum cruise of 9.8 should be standard/minimum across everyship in SF, rather than the absurd mix and match of speeds we have, so that a fleet can get to a destination in a set speed, rather than staggered arrivals based on their top speeds. Accordingly perhaps a slightly faster maximum rated, like 9.92.
I did the other two - and the gap between the '1.0' in 2370 and the 3.0 in 2380 is about 1.5x, and the gap between the 3.0 and 3.5 is about 1.1. I think there should be some sort of similar improvement, having an identical ship to the one we've got now doesn't show 10 years worth of technological advancement and standard improvements.

Hey, that raises a point for me. Our little task force is going to be limited in speed to the slowest ships max sust cruising speed. Wil that pose any kind of issue?

The slowest ship would be the Nova-class ship. The maximum speed was stated to be Warp 8, but I'm guessing they'd have made some improvements since the Equinox.

In Endgame we saw a major, major refit to it (in BC it's called the Rhode Island class). We could perhaps have said this refit came about just in time for this fleet action? Perhaps make its maximum cruise 9.8 and maximum rated 9.9?
I know like I'm going to seem like I'm whining, but for this Paladin class 'cruiser' - can we at least have all the torpedos quantum (type 3 burst fire quantum?), and have
some better shields? I've just been messing around in the calculator, and when you do some pretty modest upgrades to the Sovereign that would come round in 20 years of technological advancement and - in our 'competant' military SF - stripping out some of the crap in there, it really does outdo what should be more powerful in the Paladin.

Fair points, Thorin - I think I was once again trying too hard to avoid fanboyism, but I'll play with it.

Accuse me of being fanboyish all you want (I'm really not, I couldn't give two hoots whether ST is better than SW or whatever else - I only deal in facts and figures as people who know what I'm *officially* doing as an undergrad - should know). Anyway, personally I'd do something along these lines - I've just plonked in the Sovereign and Galaxy for some comparisons (and if we ever do use them later on).

Isn't that a little agile for a "head to head" slugger style ship? I'd see it running around 700 or so.

I put that at first, but then I thought the two biggest pummeling ships - the Sovereign and the Defiant - are pretty darn manoeuvrable.

I'm not sayin you're being "fanboyish," Thorin - I'm saying that perhaps I've been too averse to it. Also, the Daystrom at this point is nearing the end of how far it can be stretched and revamped. Here's my latest take (the rapid-fire quantums were just too much, and I believe the mechanisms would require too much internal reconfiguring.) I figured the rate of upgrade would slow as we approaced a terminal velocity, so to speak - this comes out approx. 5.6% ahead of the last one:
USS-Daystrom NCC- 77127
Ship: Akira class heavy cruiser version 3.66
Length : 464.43 m
Beam : 316.67 m
Height : 87.43 m
Decks : 19
Mass : 3,055,000 tons
Crew : 475 (evac 4500)

15 x Pulse fire quantum torpedo tube with 1200 rounds and photon torpedo replicator
Regenerative shield system, total capacity 3,825,745 TeraJoules
High Duranium/Tritanium Double hull plus 7.2 cm ablative armour.
High level Structural Integrity Field
Normal Cruise : 8.0
Maximum Cruise : 9.63
Maximum Rated : 9.9 for 12 hours.
Beam Firepower : 800
Torpedo Firepower : 10,125
