I could imagine a larger ship for house leaders and admirals and other high ranking personel. But most captains would be given a ship a couple hundred metres long and make do with that.

Hmm....what would I do with the Federation fleet...
Well, first of all, I'd give my beloved Mirandas a much-needed upgrade; redesign all their systems, give them pulse phasers, quantum torpedoes, the whole works. Then, I'd go ahead and churn out Defiant class starships, retire the Exelsior class, replace them with Akiras, get some new fighter designs, and really narrow down the number of military starship designs to somewhere in the territory of 10 or 12.
And the Klingon fleet;
Finally retire all the massive-BOP types, and standardize the Bird of Prey at 109 meters, where it always should have been, and give them all a thorough refit. I'd keep the Vor'chas, and produce more of them to fill the gap left by the big BOPs...and finally, I'd put the Negh'var type ships into general production, make lots and lots of them, give the fleet a fighter design, a scoutship, and a Galaxy-size super command ship.
And now for the Romulans...
Okay, of all the fleets, this one really needs the most work; after all, the entire DS9-era Romulan fleet basically consisted of one ship, the extroardinarily over-used, but still cool, Warbird. First of all, I'd take the warbird, give it a new coat of paint, and gradually start phasing them into more command-type ships, instead of frontline battleships; to make up for the reduction in their numbers, I'd start mass-producing the Norexan-type ships. And then, from there, I'd give the Romulans, in order; a fighter, a light frigate-type ship, a Defiant-size attack craft, and a few more general warships.
Okay, I'll stop there. So whaddaya think?

I'd say its ok but let the Mirandas rest man. They are old and need to be retired. Just build a new class in its place.
What does defeat mean to you?
Nothing it will never come. Death before defeat. I don’t bend or break. I end, if I meet a foe capable of it. Victory is in forcing the opponent to back down. I do not. There is no defeat.

But then who'll get blown up in fleet actions to show how serious the situation is? Battles just wouldn't be the same without all the little Mirandas buzzing around...I'd say its ok but let the Mirandas rest man. They are old and need to be retired. Just build a new class in its place.
Hmmm... I was thinking more along the lines of Uber-Unstoppable-Killer-Death-Miranda, but I guess that'd be okay...Miranda MK2?

Federation: Refit the Excelsiors, Ambassadors, Nebulas, and Galaxies. Increase Prometheus, Sovereign, Intrepid, Akira, and Defiant production. Increase small ship production to increase fleet numbers. Design the Excalibur. Bring back the Constitution Class and refit with the best technology it can be eqquipped with. Design and impliment Phased. Plasma Torpedoes.
Klingons: Increase Negh'Var, Vorcha, and B'Rel production. Build a newer BOP based design(The Nethak, a Bridge Commander MOD). Have these production ratios: 1 Negh"Var: 3 Vorchas: 4 Nethaks: 8 B'Rels
Romulans: Build more Norexans and more D'deridexes. More Talon Class Scout would also help. Have the Remans unleash the Scimitar in combat also. Also build some of my Romulan ship designs to vary up their fleet. Develop Phased Plasma Torpedoes to fight powerful shields
Cardassians: Build more ships all around. Design the Hutet, Kulinor(Armada 2).
Dominion: Build more ships to make up for losses. Build more Battleships to increase fleet power.
Breen: Build more powerful ships.

Wow that was inspired. Build more ships... why didn't anyone else think of that. And the Constitutions are over 100 years old. It would be cheaper and easier and better to just build new ships rather than update those relics.

The Mirandas are well over 100 years old too, and Starfleet still has them around. The Constitution wouldn't really be too old to use still.Teaos wrote:Wow that was inspired. The Mirandas are crap. Back in the day they were good but now they are canon fodder and a waste of good personal and reourses. They were only brough back into combat due to the war which is over. At most they are cargo ships.

Actually, the Miranda class is an excelent design from a combat viewpoint. If they moddified more extensively than just slapping new weapons and shields on, they would have a nice little frigate.

If they built a new ship to they could have a nice little frigat to with out having it have a 100 year old space frame.

Well, that was mostly what I was suggesting. Simply re-doing the Miranda would be a good idea. But keep the design mostly the same, its one of the few inteligently designed ships in Starfleet.
