As I said, the ship's loss was due to her unstable fuel supply, although the impact didn't cause nearly as much physical damage as you suggest - it certainly took out the deflector, but no more than that.
What was left of the Attack Ship exitted to the side of the ship hitting the Nacelle. It literally plowed through it entirely.
Now, as I've already asked, prove that any ship would have been destroyed by the attack that destroyed the Odyssey.
Hitting at that area is like hitting the heart of the ship. Any ship would have fallen to such a attack.

No it didn't. It approached from off the starboard bow, hit the deflector, exploded, and some of the debris hit the fore end of the starboard nacelle. It wrecked the fore end of the engineering hull, but that was it.

Prove it.

Odyssey goes down. Have we ever seen another SF ship lost to this in Trek? I'm pretty sure we've seen bug fighters ramming ships and taking them down right away but I don't recall there being a pause for any other vessel.

people evolved from birds.

birds have heads, hearts, lungs, brains, eyes, and stomachs and we have heads, hearts, lungs, brains, eyes, and stomachs so we must have evolved from birds.

the above is similar to what your saying. even though I've stated something true I have yet to prove that we evolved from birds.

your still not prooving that any other ship, even another GCS would go down in the same attack. You need canon evidence.

I don't have to. You are making the claim that the bug's attack on the Odyssey would have destroyed any ship. Now prove it.

no, and as CS put, I don't have to.

however I can prove that on another ship, the shields/armor are suitible to handle ship parts flying into them.
STNEM, the wing of the Norexean ship hit's the E-E's saucer, shields are weakend, however no damage came of it.

What was the ship that the Defiant flew through in The Die is Cast.

Was it the same type of ship, and did the Defiant actually fly through or just blast it at really close range?

I'm not getting the whole point of this exchange. We've never seen a D'D rammed by a Bug so what are we supposed to draw from as a balanced comparison?

GCS gets rammed in the Nav and goes boom...
vs.
D'D gets jumped by 10 to 1 odds and goes boom...

Neither really shock me.

exactly.

Here's what we've established, the observed proportions of distruction between the GCS and D'D's is not statisticly different, however most of the GCS's distructions have been caused by glitches, design flawes, and other rather pathetic ends, except on one occasion where it did perform some role before meating a similar end. Almost every single one of the D'D's we saw where defeated in collosal onslaughts of enemy power.

that is why the GCS recieves so much critzisim around here, and the D'D doesn't. why critisize a ship that we don't have any real solid nit picks with other than the occasional comment, of how it could be better.

The D'D seems to be a JoATs warship. That means its not going to be the best warship but its also not the worst. The GCS is a JoATs everything ship. There is not a single role that they don't send the GCS out on. Which has to be one of the worst resource wastes in history of the Starfleet!

The point was brought up that we criticize the GCS for being fragile, so why not the D'deridex, because we've seen more of them destroyed? The consensus seems to be that a) the number of destroyed ships isn't as significant as the percentage of each type destroyed (which percentage Staplic showed to be at least equal, if not far in favor of the D'deridex,) and b) most D'deridex' destroyed have been due to actual, normal things that should destroy a ship - like facing superior firepower; while many of the GCS' have been destroyed by something rather mundane and preventable.

The D'D also gives us a fair view of the abilities of the RSE's construction yards. A fleet of such massive ships produced in rather large numbers.

Mikey has it. The reason we don't bitch about the D'D is because it goes down in situations you'd expect it to go down to, like facing more than 10 to one odds in combat.

RE the Oddyssey:
Man, the attack ship was moving damn slow in that clip. What was that, a few dozen metres per second? :?
