Ah, but now you would super-positive that it wouldn't move.

Thank god. I was worried about that

Blockade. Stop ships going in and out. It'd be a handy way of effectively taking the station out of action if you don't have the forces to take it on in a battle.
Hmm, I wonder could they do that with a planet, as well.

I imagine doing that to a planet would require an awful lot of ships - ships that wouldn't be otherwise avialable.

If the station is to powerful to take in combat you'd have a hard time throwing the web up around it.

Now that I'm thinking about it, it wouldn't stand up to a coordinated relief attack, would it? I mean, you only have to take out a handful, at best, of the constituent ships to disable it.

Pretty much. *shrug* I was just trying to find a way for it to be useful, I guess.

Can you fire through the completed web?
Or does it just stop you from moving? I see no reason why you couldnt pop a torpedo through one of the little holes.

I know it may not be too useful, but in the Mirror ENT episodes, the ISS Enterprise, when trapped, tried to destabilize the projected net by firing its photonic torpedoes at it. It absorbed all the shots if i remember correctly. But, not surprisingly, the Tholian's cannons plowed straight through to destroy the Enterprise. And the Web destroyed the escape pods when they tried to escape the destruction of the Enterprise.
heres a link that contains it.

Perhaps only a certain energy types can penetrate the web's lattice. or only a specific frequency, like torpedoes vs. shields.

But why could nothing get through one of the holes? There is no visible force stopping them. If there is a force field between the strands it would drain energy really fast.

One of the great mysteries if Trek.
