Aye, would have been interesting to see some of the after effects of the war.

I've heard that it was initially planned (or at the very least proposed) to have the war end half way through season 7, and have the second half of the season focus on its effects.

I'm a little mixed on that. I feel like it could have been handled really well, but we also could have seen the final season slump like we saw in B5. Luckily, that one picked up by the second half of the season. Even though they could have shown us more about what the war did to change alpha quadrant geopolitics, it's also good that they went out at their best.

It would have been interesting but very anticlimatical.

I think it ended just fine, EXCEPT with Sisko joining the wormhole aliens. That was dumb.

I hated the whole Deus Ex Machina ending.

Agreed. Terrible ending.

I actually flew home from Florida to catch the finale, and recall being rather disappointed with it. Not as much as "These are the Voyages..." but still well below my expectations. When Worf broke Weyoun's neck earlier in the season, and my friends and I all cheered, I expected a more, well, violent and jarring ending to the show.

I expected some sort of massive, epic battle that would end with the Allies breaking the back of the Dominion military, and forcing them into negotiations, though with heavy casualties.

I actually expected that Sisko would be promoted to Admiral, and assigned to DS9 as a Sector Commander. (once I remember it was said he always wanted to be an Admiral. I just forgot which episode)

Really? I thought the ending was great and inspiring in the first half, and I was ultimately happy with the ending. I don't think it needed an epic battle. The war needed to be ended, bu t I think it was ended well enough.

It seemed to much like he died to me. That's why I kept waiting for another spin off, or a DS9 movie. And it just never came. By the way, can anybody list for me the DS9 relaunch novels? I'd like to get the collection, but don't know where to start already. First upto the latest. PM me please, so we don't tie up this thread.

I actually liked the "Pah-Wraith Dukat vs Sisko" fight, though I wish it had been more epic. And, I was really expecting a big fleet battle.

It was cool, but not cooool.

The problem with the end is that it was a total Deus Ex Machina.

The fight itself, or the "Sisko's a prophet" business? The former, I agree, was quite well done, but it might have been better to simply kill Sisko off rather than the DEM.
