We know at least that Bakula can act quite well. I'm sure everyone on here in my age bracket has seen Quantum Leap (and if you haven't than turn in your geek card) and he was excellent in that. You can only do so much with shite writing though, even Stewart and Spiner could only do so much with INS and NEM. And those two are some of the best actors in Trek.Rochey wrote:I've nothing against the actors, it's the characters I have a problem with.

Re: What did we like
You know what would have made of an interesting bit. Jonathan Archer standing on the bridge, suddenly caught in a bright blue light. When it fades, have his first words as, "oh boy". I used to joke with some friends that they should have done a "Quantum Leap" and "Enterprise" crossover. After all, Dr. Beckett WAS supposed to move on to more difficult leaps at the end of the series.

I liked the characters. Trip's a hick? McCoy's a luddite. And an inconsistent one at that.

People rag on Reed but I think he did an ok job at it. He wasnt nearly as 2D as Mayweather.
What does defeat mean to you?
Nothing it will never come. Death before defeat. I don’t bend or break. I end, if I meet a foe capable of it. Victory is in forcing the opponent to back down. I do not. There is no defeat.

I dont see why Trip was that bad. he actually did fairly well, even if his accent and background was so annoying. Since when was Phlox mass murdering or did i miss the entire series, which i didnt.

1) that review is the most negative pile of crap i have read in my life.
2) If i remember correctly, Phlox states it is genetic and that it would be extremely difficult, if not impossible to provide a cure for the disease. So how is he mass murdering if he cant do anything about it.

And? Yes, it's negative. So is virtualy every review of that episode. How can you possibly make a positive review about an episode where the main characters congratulate themselves for committing what is in effect genocide?1) that review is the most negative pile of crap i have read in my life.
More importantly, the fact that it's negative does not detract from the validity of the review itself. Everything in the episode happened as the author stated it there. Phlox and Archer committed genocide. There's no way of getting around that.
He already had the cure. He refused to hand it over to Archer, and then convinced the idiot that it would be better to let them all die off instead.2) If i remember correctly, Phlox states it is genetic and that it would be extremely difficult, if not impossible to provide a cure for the disease. So how is he mass murdering if he cant do anything about it.

I thought it was something that allieviates the symptoms, not a cure.

No, I'm certain it was a cure. It would need to be for the writers to get the whole "moral dilema" thing they wanted.

Dear Doctor wrote: Later that evening, Archer is mulling over the situation in the crew mess. Phlox enters and makes small talk (when we learn that Denobians hibernates for six days each year). Archer asks about the progress of Phlox's medical research. Phlox says that he thinks it is incorrect to be helping the Valakians - that the Menk are supposed to survive, and will only be allowed to properly evolve and prosper if they are not tied to the Valakians. Phlox explains that the "disease" is actually an inherent flaw in Valakian DNA; they've reached an evolutionary dead end. Archer demands a cure for the Valakians, saying he doesn't agree with Phlox's point of view. Phlox reveals that he already has a cure.

Ah, thanks.
So, in short, Phlox is a genocidal mass-murderer. And he calls it moral.
