Oh yeah we need to decide the make up of our fleet and the basics of the enemy fleet alothough that can be more vauge they will have lots of small craft but it will probably help to know their capital ships. I'm thinking around 20ish ships for our fleet.
So far we have
1 - Akira - Daystrom
1 - Galaxy - Dakota
1 - Saber - No name yet
They dont have to be named. I was thinking add a Nebula and another Akira or two with the rest made up of mid sized ships. To many capital ships will make the fleet to strong. We have to fill three attack groups. One too land our army headed by the Dakota, One lead by the Daystrom that fighte their fleet and one that fights the Defence platforms.
Enemy fleet can be made up of ships from every power.

There should probably be an Intrepid or two - wasn't one of them working the border with us when the Alpha mission began?
*EDIT* There was a ship called the USS Freemen working farther up the Maddox line.

Will be working during the day today on some prelim stats for the new auxiliary ship, and a post of my own to try and get us on a war footing.

What do you plan to do with out new shuttle/scout ship?

Here's my suggestions:
1 x Galaxy Class: Dakota
3 x Akira Class: Daystrom
2 x Nebula Class
2 x Steamrunner Class
4 x Saber Class
2 x Intrepid: Freeman
3 x Defiant
Which gives us 17 'capital' ships, and then a load of other ones such as Mirandas, Oberths, Novas, Norways etc

Thats 6 Big ships. Two for each strike wing. That would work nicely. Although I think the Daystroms strike wing may take three big ships and leave one for the wing taking on the platforms.

I'll write in a suggested Nebula and Steamrunner in my next piece. Lets have...
USS Essex for a Nebula and...USS Strathclyde for Steamrunner? that okay?

My thoughts are something along the lines of a Fed Scout (as in
Insurrection) upgraded to about 175% of the size and of course upgunned and powered (within bounds of reason.) Uses would be assault/personnel delivery/materiel delivery, atmospheric superiority (an "F/A" craft, as it were,) and interceptor/non-atmospheric fighter. In the game, without giving too much away, I'd intended to use it to split incoming fire as well as help establish "beachheads" for the assault force.
*EDIT* Oh, yeah, and recon, too.
