Barclay was probably the most interesting second tier character in Trek.

Agreed. He was a good contrast to the really "normal", well-adjusted major characters on TNG. Unless everyone is on Prozac and Xanax in the 24th century, there would still be a lot of people with mental disorders.

Maybe gene therapy gets rid of the big problems. Barclay was just odd.

He was a paranoid obsessive-compulsive neurotic with mild asperger syndrome. Hardly small problems.

As normal as most of us, at any rate.

Or more...

Dwight Schultz does seem to get the roles without both oars in the water, doesn't he?

Hey, it occured to me while driving this morning, if British cars have the driver on the right side of the car, does that mean they have to shift with their left hand?

Yip. We do that here as well.

Not all - some of them probably have automatic transmissions. :P

but the shifter would still be on the left hand side. Unless it's on the steering column like in my mom's mini-van. I really hate that van...

Ug. Flappy paddle gearboxes. :x

As for changing gear left handed, what's the problem? I'd say it's a lot safer than taking your dominant hand off the wheel.

What about the E-brake or even the gas and break peddles? Are those backwards too?

The clutch is on the left, the brake's in the middle and the accelerator's on the right.

E-brake is shorthand for emergency brake or parking brake. You know, the one you use to do a bootlegger reverse?

You know what's weird? There are two completely different animals, called "groundhog" and "aardvark;" but aardvark translates as "earth pig."
