Well, the heading on the first pic reads something like "central nervous system," but in a weird Romance-Cyrillic transliteration. I have no idea if the actual Russian translation follows closely. But... it's a rough collie! I don't know if I should be afraid, but that thing will herd the SHIT out of some sheep!

It is obviously a joke. Sticking a dog's head that either a fake head or a real dog head that looks that real during a presumed time period is highly unrealistic since we cannot even do that now.

Also sticking a dog head into a robot... well...

Of course it's a fake. Even if we were to ignore the completely anachronistic aspect of the technology, no real scientist would put a dog into that sort of construct - dogs' motor centers aren't built for bipedal movement.

OTOH, if I were able to get one for my pooch I bet he'd show those f*^%ing rabbits once and for all.

I'm fine with them. Gacy never dressed up as a Jew and he never claimed to be Jesus or a retard.

The thing that makes me take this slightly seriously is that the Russians did actually do experiments in which they tried to keep a dog's head alive separately from the body, using an artificial heart and lung machine. Apparently they even had some slight success, if you can believe that.

I think that probably inspired somebody to mock this up...

I had heard that those experiments, even after some limited success, were halted quite suddenly when the doctor's rather inhumane practices and desire to work on human subjects became known. Anyway, like I said - a dog's brain isn't wired for bipedal ambulation.
