Reliant - I'd guess Buicks, Mercurys, Lincolns, etc. would in general be far larger than the typical European buyer wants. Don't forget, though, European-specific GM brands are doing quite well relative to the global car market - Opel/Vauxhaul are still fairly strong, and Chevrolet in Western Europe (and China, BTW) is one of the strongest GM markets right now.

True, but Mercury does things like the Milan which would probably be like a medium saloon, like the Focus Saloon. Then again, the engines are troublesome...

what engines do they use over there. over here they have either the I-4 2.3L or the 3.0L duratec V-6. all good motor over here...

saloon? i take that to mean sedan? but anyway for is moving to a more global platform for thier vehicles. i was at the philadelphial int. autoshow and ford unvailed the net taurus and the transit connect. the transit connect is i beleave already a design sold in europe. it seems like a great little truck and will more than likey be a big seller here in the states. and the taurus is based heavily on fords european designes. in 2010 or 11 fors will begin selling the fiesta over here....still waiting for a falcon...

GM is trying to do that too but it doesn't seem to work out for them too well, especially when they keep dumping so much money into that farse of a car known as the camaro.

Thats just it. a 2.3L or a 3.0L is a fairly large engine. Normal would probably 1.6-2.0 here i would think, for a Milan sized car.

I work at a GM dealership, and I can tell you that GM is already doing it. Saturn introduced the Astra 3- or 5-door hatchback in March of '08, which is nothing more than a rebadged Opel/Vauxhaul.

But the Astra of your version has a 1.8 litre minimum yes? I think the max the Vauxhall version sold in the UK has is a 1.6, and the more common is the 1.4 litre. And In the UK, Diesels are now far more common than standard petrol.

Yes, the NA-spec has the 1.8L gas, and either the short-throw 5-speed manual or the Aisin 4-speed automatic.

BTW Staplic, I'm in AP, and my biggest problem with it is the fact that I never really do hw and I don't do well on the tests because I don't do the hw. lol. SO it is ALL my fault, nobody elses, I'm just lazy, lol
