No, for that you'd need a metal box and a piece of fairy cake. ;)

The Total Perspective Vortex from The Restaurant at the End of the Universe. After being nagged by his wife for not having a sense of perspective, a man invented a machine that would embody all of the universe by extrapolating it from a single object of the universe... say, a piece of fairy cake. Well, the crushing sense of insignificance destroyed her mind, by the inventor was comforted by the fact that he was right and she was wrong. Douglas Adams' point was that if there's anything an individual can't afford to have regarding the scope of creation, it is a sense of perspective. The TPV is used as a brutal torture device. Zaphod Breeblebox emerged unscathed, though, when he entered the Vortex in a universe created specifically for him; as he was the focus of that universe, the Vortex told him what he already "knew" - that he was amazingly important in the grand scheme of things.

Ah, all right. Been years since I read any Hitchhiker's. I must remedy that, methinks...

I think she nodded of, accidentally leant on the 'forward!' lever and hadn't applied the brakes.

What is that "pizza is a vegetable law"?

It's not really a law per se, but the U.S. gub'mint has decided that pizza, much like ketchup in the 90's, counts as a vegetable for the purpose of meeting the minimum criterion for school lunches.
