I've also stayed there in my past, as well as having sailed both in the bay and for a scary bit, in the ocean.
Why they shot the sailing footage in SF bay, I have no clue.

Perhaps they didn't want the navy ships in the way? There's usually a number of aircraft carriers in port.

Lots of space to sail from my experience. Plus it's a long haul (close to 8hrs by car) from SD to SF for a day of sailing, but a flight is under 2hrs on a good day. Maybe she kept the boat up there, who knows?

I never realised that North Island (ie top gun) is located in San Diego. In fact at the end of Coronado. We actually stayed there for a few days, when visiting. Nice place, with great nighttime views of the city.
Top Gun is not in San Diego. Not now. The original movie it was still located in Miramar. But now it's in Fallon Nevada.
Believe me, I know. Spent alot of time on the base during my days in the Navy.
And yes I did work on the Tomcat and later the Super Hornet. And yes I can definitely point out mistakes in both movies.

Not doubting you in the slightest. They certainly refer to Top Gun as being in North Island in the new movie. They certainly talked about Miramar in the first film. Thus my confusion.

Spider-Man: No Way Home - Again, not a great film. The previous Spidey films were much better. Really hated the ending.
I can't agree with this hard enough. 100% with you.

I don't think your supposed to believe it is SF. I think it is meant to be SD, even if it clearly isn't.

Yeah they went back to Miramar.
I think the reason why is because you can do far more there than Fallon. Fallon is in a desert. No major water for hundreds of miles. Not much to do there either. On base, you can go to either the Enlisted club or the officers club. Or BBQ in the courtyards and get drunk there instead.
Offbase, there is a casino and a Walmart. There is a bar there but the locals are dangerously close to being the 'sister-aunt-wife' people.
That and Miramar looks better overall.

Famous SF skyline is clearly seen during the long shots, so no mistaking it for SD
Likely more than 50% of audiences miss it

Yeah not everyone knows the skyline of San Diego and not everyone will know that Top Gun moved in 1996 to Fallon.
But then again, the movie showed fictional enemy fighters that no way in hell would exist. Also the combat capabilities in a dogfight isn't that much of a difference today between even new fighters and the old. The movie played that up for drama.
A Super Hornet, the main plane showed in the movie isn't really that far off in capabilities over a Tomcat. The difference is just the avionics improvements which makes sense since F-14A uses 1970's tech and 90's tech for the newer models and the Super Hornet uses the latest.
Actually Tomcats despite their size are very good dogfighters. The saying is that they turn on a dime and give nine cents back. Their main problem is trained pilots can observe the movement of their wings to determine how the plane will maneuver.

Thor: Love and Thunder: For as much as I loved T:Ragnarok, this one while enjoyable, struck me a bit...cold, if that is the right word for it. A bit herky jerky from top to bottom, hitting plenty of 'the feels' for the audience and expected humor from Waititi, but missing an overall flow. Makes me wonder how TW will fare with the Star Wars universe as his next big project. Good popcorn flick for a lazy afternoon during drips and drops of rain.

I finally watched Upgrade. Came out in 2018. Have been meaning to watch it.
Highly recommend. Part of it is predictable but the ending isn't.
Guy is paralyzed in some organized hit on him and his wife. When you watch it you assume it's the weird guy who installs the computer chip in the paralyzed guy's spine. Afterall it really does look like a hit and not just some random crime.
The acting is good. Bunch of no name actors I have never seen. When the AI takes over and the paralyzed guy is in for the ride it is amusing. That is the other thing you do see the AI wanting more control coming a mile away.
Considering we are already there more or less with putting chips in people's bodies to restore a function, whether it's hearing or sight, this isn't out of the realm of possibility. I think we are still working on giving paralyzed disabled people the ability to walk.

A rewatch of Meru (2015) and Free Solo (2018)...both excellent climbing documentaries by Jimmy Chin, the last one earning him the Academy Award.
Been warching Chin's series 'Edge of the Unknown'' where each episode features a turning point in the career of an adventure sportsman. Quite good! And while watching, I asked my fella if he had seen the two films by the same maker and when he said no, I knew it was time for a rewatch. Both are wonderful and visually stunning.

Watched Enola Sherlock. Billie Bob Millie or whatever her name is pretty good. Barely saw the Cavil version of Sherlock but I liked it.
Never realized Enola is backwards Alone either.
Finally watched Thor 4. Not bad. Could have cut back on the jokes a bit. Thor is too goofy especially in the beginning.

I watched "Choose or Die" a few months ago. It's about a game from the 1980's infecting a girl's life, and the nightmare her life becomes. Good movie. I recommend a watch.

Another movie I watched more recently is "Black Phone." It's loosely based on that time in America where there was an epidemic of child kidnappings. Our protagonist is kidnapped and must figure out how to escape, or die. Very good movie as well. I recommend it.
