Phebia leaned back against one wall of the truck bed. "I was thinking, it might not be worth it to push all the way to the Abbey as fast as we can. If a witch is arrayed against us they could use their sorcery to track us far more covertly than with the flock of ravens. Perhaps the animals along the way were possessed but not made to follow us? Why tire ourselves out if any hope of a covert approach is gone?"
"Very true," Trask replied. "If they are expecting us to travel straight through, we might even avoid a problem by altering our schedule."
2001, Day Two
As the half-track ground to a halt, Milo stood in the bay. "I'm going to see if the area is clear," he announced to nobody in particular. He squinted for a moment, then drew everyone's attention as he crouched, whimpering, with his hands over his ears as if he were being assaulted by some terrible noise. Finally he fell to his knees, then drew himself up while shaking his head to clear it. He looked around foggily for a momnt. Upon seeing the suspicious stares of the group, he said, "It's alright. There's only me in here." He tapped the side of his head for emphasis and went on, "The area is clear of people, but theres a good handful of animals - rats, I guess, and maybe some of those crows a few dozen meters away."

"It's alright. There's only me in here."
When Trasks head turned to Phebia he found himself staring down the barrel of her carbine. "For your sake I hope so."

Milo laughed ruefully. "Don't worry - when the time comes, you'll know."

"Fair point." Karibi replied to the Sororitas. "It's a good bet that someone already knows where we are and what speed we're making. From that they can pretty easily gauge a rough time for us to reach to our destination. Best to show up capable of putting up a fight than pointlessly wear ourselves out."

Marco let his hand fall from the butt of his revolver. He had learned enough about such matters to know that if something had gone wrong, the psyker would have made it pretty clear. Too much damned sorcery on this planet, he mused.

Phebia lowered her carbine a fraction of an inch then a moment later all the way. She huffed and put her weapon over her shoulder again before pulling her magnoculars out and climbing on top of the cab to scan around.

2000, day 2
Haxta climbed down from the back of the half-track somewhat gingerly, not used to riding in something that bounced so much. She looked around at the rest stop with open distain. " No facilities, no lights, no anything...it's all so, natural."
She was turning back towards the truck when Milo suddenly hunched over, whimpering. She froze, a thrill of panic running down her spine. Before Haxta could even think of reaching for a weapon, Phebia already had her gun drawn and pointed, ready to take the psyker's head off if needed.
Fortunately nothing seemed to come from it, aside from a heightening of nerves for the group in general. Trying to shake off her unease, Haxta busied herself with another inspection of the half-track, making sure it had weathered the rough ride without damage or extensive wear.

Phebia hopped off the cab of the truck into its bed and then down to the ground. "I didn't see anything but with sorcery about I don't know if that means anything or not."

" Well, that's what we have him," Haxta nodded towards Milo, " around for, right?"

Phebia looked at Trask and snorted derisively. She reached back and drug her pack off the truck. "I don't suppose anyone's pack had a tent in it?

Haxta shook her head. " I believe they are all the same." She glanced up at the sky curiously. It was odd to have so much empty space above one's head. " You don't think it might, rain?" she asked uncertainly.

2005 Day 2
Phebia shook her head. "Not on this dustball. Probably doesn't rain more than a handful of times in a year." She tossed her pack back on the truck. "That said I'm sleeping the truck just to be safe."

20:05 - day two
Pahr climbed up onto the roof of the halftrack so he could see the stars, and unfurled his bedroll before setting his rifle next to him, and drawing his snub auto. He laid on his back, crossing his arms over his chest and stared into the deep black sky.

"Not a bad idea." Marco commented to Phebia. "Best to stay as close to our mode of escape as possible. I think I'll sleep up in the driver's compartment. The seats there would probably make an alright bed."
