Around here, it's common verbal shorthand to describe the wind chill as if it were temperature.

True, but it would be better - and indeed correct - to say that a lack of wind made it hotter, rather than a presence of wind making it cooler.

Meh. Perception is reality. The point of discussing the temperature is how cold I will feel outside.

exacly, and it's not all that bad out right now. the sun is shining. and we're at -8 wc factor makes it feel like -20

We had great fun in the Antarctic Centre in New Zealand, where you can experience wind chill at the touch of a button :)

I have more wind chill during the winter than I ever wanted. Why would go push a button to create more?

Cool (sorry couldn't resist) We stayed in the hotel opposite the airport overnight while waiting for a flight the next day. It was just around the corner.

I love watching people who grew up here. They are bundeled up with thick jackets and I'm still going in a tank top and shorts :laughroll:
