Of course, by the VOY definition, that would still involve planting the things in some soil...

Upon further reflection, I would absolutely want an old explorer, as originally stated.

I fully understand the Paladin simply does not match up, but the amount of freedom Captains of the era had, as well as the close-knit relationship to their crews.

Anyone ever read "Ship of the Line" about Bateson and the Bozeman? Interesting perspective on the crew. I listened to the book on MP3 over the last two days and can fully see the advantages of a border cutter.

I just wouldnt want to be on a military craft. The life style on other ships would be easier.
What does defeat mean to you?

Nothing it will never come. Death before defeat. I don’t bend or break. I end, if I meet a foe capable of it. Victory is in forcing the opponent to back down. I do not. There is no defeat.

I wouldn't trust my safety on one of these Federation ships to anything but a well-armed and defended ships. They, at least, will have been gone over with a fine tooth comb to weed out any problems.
In theory.

That's a pretty big theory.
No trees were killed in transmission of this message. However, some electrons were mildly inconvenienced.

I'm sorta getting the impression that Rochey is afraid of flying. ;)

I would only use the frame of a Fed ship (the pretty ones). Then I would completly rebuild the tech so that there will be no panels exploding and killing my crew.

I wouldn't even use the frames. I'd build a whole new ship from scratch.

Don't the major airlines outsource serious plane maintenance to China now? Wouldn't that be like letting Ferengi come on Federation ships and do the safety checks?
