CBS Won't Allow Any Reviews of Star Trek: Discovery Before It Airs
For movies, this is an established technique that’s often done to prevent critics from trashing a bad film before it’s released in hopes people will see it if they don’t hear the reviews; recent examples include The Dark Tower and The Emoji Movie. But it’s by no means a guarantee of badness—many horror movies don’t show screenings, which don’t traditionally get good reviews well, even if audiences ending up loving them. But it’s still hard not to see a refusal to allow early reviews as a lack of confidence in its quality.

"it’s by no means a guarantee of badness" but it's about as close as you can get.

They wouldn't mind reviews if the reviews were good.

Jonathan Frakes says there's going to be a Mirror Universe episode on Discovery.
Frakes also says the pilot is amazing and the freak out is unfounded.
Edit: This is someone saying Frakes said these things.

Didn't Frakes get hired to direct a Discovery episode a while back?
Why yes he did.
So this would be a completely unbiased, un-paid-for opinion he's stating, then.

Exactly one week until Star Trek: Discovery comes to Netflix. I know there is a lot of animosity about it, but I am willing to give it a chance, as I have Netflix anyway, so doesn't cost me anything extra. I would have preferred they did a post-Voyager sequel, maybe set in the 25th century, but will see what they've got. I don't like the look the look of the ship, or the Klingons, or the Klingon ship that I've seen, but you never know, they may grow on me.

But how do you feel about the Mirror Universe part?

At this point I don't much care about Discovery news one way or the other.
Weren't we told that Discovery would be one ongoing story with no self contained episodes? Not sure how you could do a Mirror universe ep in that one.

Interesting article on the process of Discivery. Makes me more hopeful if it didn't seem so BS.
And the think watching Enterprise makes them trek experts.

I'm no fan of Discovery, but that stuck me as mostly BS. He would quote the writers and producers as saying something, and then say "In other words..." and say something rather different. Then he would carry on as if the people he was quoting had said that instead.
If you're going to criticise them, criticise what they actually said, not what you assume they really meant.
Also he compared white nationalists to black lives matter as if they were equivalent. I stopped listening at that point.
