Then count my last post as me taking up a position 60m south. Should put me in that first patch of trees north of the path heading east from the bridge. I'm guessing I'm about 25m from the bridge. Close range I think.

I think I'll set up in the tree right on the bank, due south of the bridge. Once we open up, I'll jump onto the bridge behind the Boyz. What's the range from that spot to the center of the bridge, oh wise GM?

I wouldn't land to close or you're going to get stuck under friendly fire. If you land at the far side of the bridge you can catch them in a cross fire and charge if they try to run.

By the distance I meant that this is likely to be a meeting engagement. LH is detecting them right before they hit the bridge.

I'll stay where I am for now, and take cover behind a tree. Time for some sniping.

Lighthawk can only "see" up to 90 metres, but can I see farther with my rifle? It'd help if I could watch them as they approach.

It's heavy woods. You might get snippets of them but they are literally about to pop out of the woods.

And look, there they are.

The map is up. Use it mostly for relative positions. The river is 30m across, moving fast, and about 1.5m deep. The range to the orks is about 90m.

As the GM I am kindly asking you to kill them rather than skirt around them. I'd like to see how the weapons and mobs I cooked up work in an actual fight instead of just theorycraft.

So roll for initiative.

12 for me also. I have to check some rules, but so my colleagues know - as soon as I'm close enough I'll try to jump behind them. Cut off any ork who might run with a warning, and put them between myself and the rest of our fire.

Could be risky. You'd be cut off from the rest of us. Should they decide to turn on you, you'd pretty much be screwed.

It'll take couple of turns, so we should have thinned the herd. Besides, someone's got to, and I am an assaultmarine after all.

And I made the map last night. I'll give you a turn's worth of movement to set up.

 Of course not. Make that a 16 for Initiative.
