It seems this is another one of those things that got reported (made up) somewhere once, and then spread across the internet through blogs and chain-mail as if it were Holy Fact.

More like some guy with a grudge against the TSA, who decided to make shit up to discredit them.

I did once have nail clippers confiscated, but they had a jackknife blade... and it was in October of 2001.
