Just for fun, I will get the full report out later, but the initial casualties in the Klingon-Romulan war are approaching 200 million already given the large scale commitments of troops to ground operations.

Just a word to the wise. Assaulting planets is a very bloody business that is not for the weak at heart. If you don't bombard it and you use anything but a lot of highly trained troops for such an operation it will be bloody. Defensive soldiers know the land. If you land a bunch of ill-trained militia and tell them to clear a planet room by room it will be very bloody for both sides, even if all you are taking on is the small percentage of a world that forms a spontaneous militia and is armed by the government just to resist the invasion.

If you land militia in the face of elite or crack troops it will be ugly. Kind of like taking a bunch of raw recruits and telling them to take a beach defended by US Rangers. They will be as much danger to each other as to the Rangers and many will likely just poop their own pants and lay on the ground crying until someone comes and kills them.

Could we have a mini tactical map too, or should we just make our own.

A note on spreadsheets this turn.

You will get a sheet that tracks your forces, ships added and lost, troops added and lost, bases lost ect. The income sheet has not advanced since it is a 6 month turn. Your expenses occured in this quarter for things like troop callups is on the sheet, as are any expenses projected for next year.

It is on this sheet (turn 10) that you bulid your next economic year. The next turn is the start of the new year. If you are one of the powers at war you may have a large deficit or surplus for one of two reasons.

If you have a deficit it means you probably spent a ton of money on troops and what not. You can't change it at this point.

If you have a surplus it is likely because you lost a lot of ships or infrastructure (meaning your cost went way down).

I am moving info to spreadsheets now and will send them at the same time as the written reports. News will follow but this may take a while as there are a ton of moving parts. As an expedience during battle both parties will get the same report detailing the facts of the battle. I would edit them with more flare but there simply is not time. We had 2 major space battles and like 7-10 ground engagements to get through.

Also for tactical battles, I have decided that I have to offer that option to you. I don't want to game out battles where one side is outgunned 5 to 1. You won't change the outcome in that situation and it will just slow the game up. As a general rule of thumb I will allow tactical battles when the forces are within a 3 to 1 firepower ratio of one another AND they represent a significant portion of your combat capability. Otherwise I will just run the numbers as a whole fleet vs whole fleet simulation to get on with things.

I don't think we want to wait 3 or 4 days to sim out each encounter between a group of a few dozen Romulan scouts and a few Klingon BOP.

I agree with the little battles. They are non-issue and take up time. Only ones where tactics make a difference would I want to battle it out.

I just hope I didn't lose too much this last bit.

Well, he's saying 200 million dead and I didn't send anywhere near that many troops so... I'm thinking we both took some nasty bleeding this round.

Oh, the body count is much higher than 200 million. You guys fought a bunch of this in the middle of cities. Very very nasty stuff. Billions dead. You basically just refought the worst of the Pacific battles or Stalingrad on planets with a lot of guys who are hardly trained but were handed military grade weapons and told to either kick ass or defend your hometown to the death.

House to house fighting between the Klingons and Romulans. Wicked.

Yeah, but its like the RSE said. They wanted to put up a fight first and then call for terms. Guess this turn will bring out the terms or the final attack on their homeworld. Either one is fine though... This system of Big's is working pretty well.

Yeah, you did. You started this whole thing (well, actually, someone in your media did), because no ship of mine ever crossed till you did. And that is OOC.

I just can't wait for you to see my surprise at Romulous.

BTW, BIG I've got a bit of sifting through to do. When do you want the reports in?
