I got a great card from one of my best friends, $60 from my uncle, and $1000 from my grandma.
I also may have been granted my grandparents' house, which would be the best Christmas present I've ever received.
Is there a "fingers crossed" emoticon?

Wow, that kinda makes my couple of bottles of aftershave and some booze seem kinda insignificant.
(Maybe my family are trying to tell me something, I smell and I'm known as an old booze hound)

I'll cross something or other for you, Tsu. Is the house in Houston?
Shran - if you got something that makes you happy, then it's a great gift - even if it's from yourself.

Well, don't hurt yourself.
The house is in Sugar Land; my grandparents bought it in 1979, and I'd like to have at least something in my family be generational.

Like I said to my grandma; this would be about the only lucky thing that's ever happened to me in my entire life.
Given my luck, I'll probably trip on the doorframe and break my neck as soon as I start moving things in.

Nah, my mom would be on the other side of the house, but, it's a big house. I doubt we'd see too much of each other. Besides, my mom is cool. 8)

Lucky guy. I love my mother but I could never live with her again.

Trust me, it's a bit of a problem. Mom and I have been over it a few times, and we've figured this can work if a few criteria are met. For one, I'm buying a mini-fridge for my room (reduces the amount of walking I'd need to do, and means I wouldn't leave the master bedroom as much). Also, I'm planning to set up a workshop/lab in the garage using all of my late grandfather's equipment, and I want to plant a garden around back. So, I'll be outside if I'm not in my room or at work. No problemo.
As for bringing girls home, as I said, she'll be on the opposite side of the house; not a problem either.
I'll catch you guys on the flip side; I've got to run. My buddy is picking me up for the last Texans game of the season, and I've got some serious drinking to do.

That's the one that's coming! Good to hear Tsu, I'm happy for you.
Oh, I just had this conversation at Best Buy:
Me: "Do you have WALL-E"?
Best Buy Lackey: "On DVD or Blue-Ray"?
Me: "Doesn't matter"
Lackey: "Do you have a Blu-Ray player"?
Me: "No I have VHS, I figured I'd shove it in and see if it worked"
Lackey: *silence*
