I've always liked her voice, but she is sadly under-recognized in the 'States.
Well, I've been going through some of my old (read: LP record) bop collection...
Thelonious Monk, "Straight, No Chaser"
Miles Davis, "Bitches Brew"
Charlie Parker w/ Dizzy Gillespie, "Koko"

Well, I was watching
Lilo and Stitch with my son last night - and talked to my sister-in-law, who at 5 months preggers probably isn't going to be able to take the short board out this summer - and decided to post this great slack-key cut by Mark Keali'i Ho'moalu:
Hawai'ian Roller Coaster Ride
Interestingly - maybe our Mark can explain the naming conventions - there is a rather more famous Hawai'ian musician named Keali'i Reichel:
Hanohano O Maui

On another site I'm doing an episode-by-episode review of Transformers G1. In one episode there's the line 'Here comes the sun!' And...
Here comes the sun!

Inspired by Tsu's link in another thread, I give you the truly epic Jonathan Richman and the Modern Lovers:

Ice Cream man is a classic, though I much prefer the 7+ minute version where he just keeps tacking another verse on.

Actually, my fave is
Hey There, Little Insect. Dunno WTF this video is, though.

Inspired by the religion thread, I believe Trent Reznor has
something to say about it.
Of course, his lyrics are open to interpretation, and might in fact be a commentary on organized religion, and not belief itself.

Phineas and Ferb... because sci-fi just doesn't have nearly enough spaceships with butterfly-valve superchargers and tuned headers.

Well, my little dude has announced his latest pick:
I'm not sure this bodes well for his future proclivities, especially considering the way he was flirting with the waitress tonight.
Also, how do you make Gregg Allman
even mo' country?
Have
Molly Hatchet cover his song.

OK, I normally only watch the beginning weeks of
American Idol, just to see the awful people get told about themselves. However, the fam has been watching, and I had to post "why American Idol doesn't suck - completely:"
Casey Abrams has intrigued me from the start, and this last week was told by both Jimmy Iovine and Will.i.am to
not do this song, that it would make him smaller, and just wouldn't play - but he killed it, and opened lots of eyes... it was incredible:
Nature Boy
This guy, James Durbin, isn't the best of the bunch but battles Tourette's without the help of drugs, and rocked Sammy Hagar:
Heavy Metal
...and yes, that's really Zakk friggin' Wylde!!! (who, BTW, continues to look more and more like he's a horned helmet away from being a Viking.)
Now, here's why American Idol
does suck:
Call Me
I saw Blondie a few years back, and even over the age of 50 Debbie Harry can sing circles around this chick and do with far more style. This is a travesty.
