Re: Federation Battlestar
The problem is that the ability to carry four Defiants isn't really useful. This ship won't be a high speed model. More or less, just fast enough to keep pace with a main line fleet. Not go running to the rescue for anyone. If you want a supply ship, build a supply ship. This Battlestar isn't it.

Fair enough.
What say Warp 9 normal sustainable speed/Warp 9.5 max cruising speed/and 9.9 Emergency speed?

Agreed, I like that speed.

Re: Federation Battlestar
Ok....we now have speeds. Did we ever work out the ships defenses? And I had a thought....how are we going to get Klingon tech (ie weapons) to put on this thing w\o making it a joint venture??? Or shall we switch them over to fed equivilants???

I think the fed equivalent would be more sensible.

Re: Federation Battlestar
Agreed, fed tech all the way. I'm just using the Klingon tech as a base to work with.

Re: Federation Battlestar
What would the equivilant be? Type XII's are the Fed's biggest phaser, or "enhanced" pulse phasers?

Re: Federation Battlestar
I'm thinking something based on the Phaser Lance. Just a pulse weapon on a turret rather then a beam weapon on a mount.

Re: Federation Battlestar
If federation use Romulant Tech in the Defiant, why can't she uses Klingon tech?
After all, diplomatic relations with Klingon are better than relation with Romulan and they have Worf if they want an ambassador.

Re: Federation Battlestar
If you remember, there were "conditions" attatched to the use of that Romulan cloaking device. They couldn't use it in the AQ, and needed a Romulan observer aboard originally. In exchange Starfleet had to provide detailed info to the Romulans about the DQ. I don't think we want to surrender that kind of power to ANYBODY over a ship this powerful. Plus, anytime you begin melding two techs, you can run into problems (ie DS9 giving O'Brian high bloodpressure).
Also, the Defiant was ONE ship. Not every Defiant class ship was given a cloaking device. In fact, after the original Defiant was destroyed, and they renamed the Sau Paulo as the (new) Defiant, I don't believe she had a cloaking device either.
Deep, so we'd need two phaser lances to achieve the desired effect I think. Plus assorted type XIIs and pulse phasers along the body in concert with the torps.
Does that blend?

Re: Federation Battlestar
Well that can work but if it's a anti-Dominion or ANti-Borg ship, maybe this ship can be the result of a coop? No?

A phaser lance is the main weapon the futuristic E-D had in "All Good Things...."

The phaser lance is the big gun under the saucer section seen here.

Okay, so i know this weapon.
Hell, it isn't too big to be turret mounted? Theses phase lance for our Battlestar are like the big KEW weapons in the Nose of the Pegasus, isn't it?

Re: Federation Battlestar
Indeed. I'm not completely sure how we'd mount it on a turret either.
