I dunno about you guys, but if I wanted an assignment done I'd make it clear
1) What the overall topic is (Eg, the start of WW2).
2) What the focus is (Eg, influence of the rise of fascism in Europa on the beginning of the war).
3) How long it should be (Eg, 72 pages).
4) When it's due (Eg, tommorrow).

Then write that info up somewhere that it can be copied down at the leisure of the students. Should someone miss the class and turn up the next day, make damn sure to let him know what's wanted. Should someone come to you and mentions they're unclear on what exactly they're supposed to do, take five minutes at the end of the class to explain it to them and any others who are unsure.

Teachers like that honestly make me want to smack some sense into them.
Yes, basically that's what I'll be discussing with the principle tomorrow, because it makes no sense what he has given us.
Tyyr wrote:"Examine the root causes of the second world war."

"Ok, for your next paper expand upon your first, but you can't discuss the second world war."

So is this guy out of his mind or what?
Basically, he wants us to continue on using something completely different, which makes no sense whatsoever, so yeah. he has no idea what he was doing from the get go. He had no clue how to prepare us for the hardest English Test in the U.S by having us screw around and write essays about our feelings, something that is not at all on the AP English test, in fact all they want are facts, not opinions.... So us writing about our feelings is irrelevant and stupid.

I officially love this thread, it makes ranting so much fun, I can't stand him as a teacher, he shouldn't be teaching, especially after his highest AP score for his kids was a 3 out of 5, and if they were that bad in any other school then the teacher would not be teaching that class anymore. So yeah, basically thats my rant for now, until I get the urge to yell again....

Writing non-factual essays isn't useless in preparing for the AP test, as long as the writing itself was critiqued and corrected. The AP test is concerned with the writing, not the subject matter.

Ok, very true point, although he didn't grade, critique, or even look at half of the papers he had us turn in.

Annoyed the crap out of me that he wouldn't even look at most of them, and then complained about us being non-productive.

Well, in that case I'd call it useless.

Yeah, he is the most useless teacher I know.

In that case I'd call the teacher useless. There's no bloody use in setting assignments if you're not going to go over them and let people know where they went wrong and how to improve.

Yeah, yesterday he actually went to his desk and grabbed a pile of papers that included 4 different papers for everyoneq, that he not didn't grade, but he never looked at them.

And also he's the most disorganized mess ever, he's lost several papers of mine, as well as others, and expects them to be "responsible" and turn in another copy, one kid actually had to turn in 4 copies of the same paper before he got anything back on it, and then the teacher claimed it was late because he didn't do it in a timely fashion. I'm surprised that no one before now has complained, because he's completely ridiculous.

Well, I talked to the principal today, and he said that he would talk to the teacher tomorrow. Hopefully Monday he will just say never mind it all and just pretend nothing ever happened, however I doubt this will happen, so I'll work on a basic paper that matches what the girl who kinda understands what we're supposed to do.

So yeah, I think that would be a semi-victory for me, and my class loves me for actually going through with talking to the principal. :D

Hey man, if there's a problem, someone has to fix it. Better that it's someone smart.

Kudos to you. :)

So, one of the girls at work had mysterious red bumps sprout up all over her body, and everyone started crying chicken pox. Who'd have thought more than half of the office never had 'em. Only the two of us from the mainland.

God, it was awful. They kept disinfecting the office.....over and over and over and over again.

Shit like that is why I refuse to take Hawaii seriously.

You know, there's a vaccine now.

OK, here's my trip related gripes:
1) I'm at the bar at my cousin's Bat Mitzvah reception, ready to order my third or fourth drink. I ask the bartender for a "Johnny Black and club soda." He tells me he's never heard of that, and how does he mix it? :bangwall: It got better when later in the evening, a waitress asked my cousin for clarification on what comprises a Seven and Seven.

2) On the way home, driving through Pennsyl-tucky, my wife Bings I-80 W and notes an exit marked "Jersey Shore." Later we switch, and she decides that it must be a cut-off to the Turnpike, so she takes said exit. After following some local roads (though they were barely deserving of the name) and getting stuck behind an Amish buggy, we finally reach... a town named "Jersey Shore." Are you f***ing kidding me?! That's like naming a town in Virginia "Baltimore Inner Harbor." Who the fuck names a town after an area in another state? Especially if you're 6 hours' drive from New Jersey, and have nothing even figuratively resembling a shore?

I was thinking "backwards Pennsyltuckians," but those are good ideas too.

 That's probably more accurate. I just like to give even the Pennsyltuckians in my state the benefit of the doubt sometimes
