As to the look - it's already been shown that XI is an alternate reality. Why wouldn't there be minor differences?

Quite true, but still. The E-Nill is pretty much the star of the show for the fans. Changing it to something that looks completely different would be both pointless and annoying.

it's almost as if they went out and did a recasting of every major charecter...
