Well, I have Bryce on my computer, I may give it a shot, I got to being able to work it a little, I'll have to learn to use it a little better though.
It comes from hanging around you and Tsu too much.Mark wrote:Good god....I think Seafort's mind is completely in the gutter.

Given that the ship will be carrying a full division you'd need a Vice Admiral, minimum, to maintain naval control. You might be able to get away with a Rear Admiral if I configured the marine component as a reinforced brigade, but that would take a bit of rejigging. An alternative would be to have a Vice Admiral in overall command of the BSG, with the ship, air wing and marine division treated as separate elements within the group.Mark wrote:By the way, I had a random thought. Commodore would be the perfect rank for the Captain of a Battlestar, as he'll have a CAG (flight captain), and a Flag marine CO. He'd be the "overcaptain", which translates into Commodore, eh?
Two bubble, one skin. I already posted my thoughts on armor. Outer hull 5m and inner hull 5m.Mark wrote:So, are we agreed on the shielding style? Independant, duel rejenerative shields (one bubble, one skin)? We need a power output for the shields, and then we work on the armor (which I feel should be significant)
I still think it would be best to have a naval 3-star aboard to ensure that the senior naval officer outranks the commander of the ground component. It stamps out any arguments over who's in charge before they begin.Deepcrush wrote:IMO the Commodore is just fine for commanding a Battlestar. The Marines on board will have their own command structure but while aboard. They are under the command of the ranking Naval Officer.

Unless you consider a squadron to consist of multiple battlestars, which seems to contradict your previous desire to have these things operating alone, then I don't see the difference. Either way, I think it's important to ensure that the senior naval officer outranks the ground force commander. If they're the same rank, or worse the ground commander outranks the senior naval officer, then I can see arguments occurring if there's a dispute over whether a given operation or judgement call comes under naval or ground force jurisdiction. Better to give the naval commander the option of pulling rank.Deepcrush wrote:If you want to take a 3rd Star, then why not have one per Battlestar Squadron? That way he could command a the Battlestars and the Corp of Marines.
