If you were referring to the student accounts office... that's a thought.
Problem with a law-suit, the kid has no idea who is actually at fault, whether it is the school, the bank, or the government.

You could ask a lawyer, but then again, that's going to cost a pretty penny in and of itself.

Sorry to hear it, Stitch. That sort of thing went on all the time at Rutgers University - it was known coloquially as the "RU Screw." Perhaps just showing them the invoice marked "paid" for the semester in question, then informing them that you'll take that invoice to an attorney, will cause them to be a bit more flexible?
