Euro-specific model, it's a huge (by our standards) luxury people carrier, with a 2.0 TDCI engine.

As to the lingerie, both.

I can't imagine they would have ever been popular in Europe. They were huge honking things. That particular one is a 1966 Galaxie Sunliner (convertible,) with a 7-liter engine.

yeah, the average engine size of cars for us at that time was probably a 1.3 litre.

My dad had a Galaxy in the 70's. That's when he decided FORD really did mean Fix Or Repair Daily

Strangely, Fords over here are bought FOR their Reliability.

up to then he had always bought Ford. I think he bought one more, also with multiple problems. Never bought one again.

If I go back really really far my family have always had a Ford, since the first Escort. Before I was born there was the odd Rover, an awful Austin Maestro and afterwards two Hyundai's otherwise Ford all the way.

But look at it this way: how many people do you know were just dying to get their hands on one of the Ford-era Jaguars?

I had a customer once get so steamed at me that she actually turned red. The problem was that she had a Ford-era S-type to trade in. We told her what the value was - naturally, the same as a Ford Taurus of the same year and equipment level, because that's what the S-type was. She complained that she paid $8,000 more than an equivalent Taurus, because she bought a vaunted Jaguar. We ended up telling her that she should have did a little more research into what she was buying back then, because she obviously would have done better with the Ford.

Well, my Dad would give quite a lot to get hold of an X-Type estate....but Dad's rather...crazy.

Let me tell you some stories about Jaguars. The S-type (of this century) are utter POSs. We have clients bringing them in for service every three months and I don't mean for oil changes....I mean major repairs. The part I love is the attitude they get because "la-de-da, I drive a Jaguar!" As Mikey said, the asst service mgr down there is a really sweet and plain spoken woman, who lets people know her Explorer retails for more than the S type did.

The X types are a hit or miss. Either you get a really good one and have no trouble, or you get one reminiscant of the S type.

Of all the dealerships we service, the Porsche's are the most reliable servicewise.
