Re: Places you've been
We have a very long list, so I don't think we'll be running out any time soon. Just look at how much of that map is empty (see the original post). It also helps that I'm 45, which means I've had more time to go to places. I also means that I have a near £50K salary and my wife isn't that far off that. It makes it a lot easier to be able to go to the farther reaches of the globe. Things I would like to do and haven't yet:
- We've been to the Arctic circle and to the most northerly permanently occupied spot in the world (Northkapp or North cape in Norway 71º north) where we had 24 hour daylight, but, I'd also like to see 24 hour dark and see the northern lights.
- I'd also love to add Antarctica to the list. If only to say that I'd set foot on that continent. It's quite possible that we could make that in the next few years as I know of some cruises that go there!
- South America hasn't even really been touched yet, ok, we've been to Venezuela (which was a dump), but there's still lots of that to see.
- Africa screams out for a Safari. We did the enclosed version of that in South Africa while we were there, as in it was a vast estate with wild animals on, however, I'd quite like to see the Serengeti.
- I've also got my eyes on a China / Japan trip.
- Moscow would also be cool, if very expensive.
and many more...

I can only comment on Belgium since we went through it on the way to Holland. (Why it wasn't as cost effective to get a Ferry to, you know, Holland when I'm sure one leads off from Southampton I dont know). It seemed rather...empty. For the entire journey we saw cows, fields and the occasional burnt out building or tractor.

The straights are overcrowded as it is - the only direct route to the Netherlands anywhere near you is Harwich-Hook of Holland.Reliant121 wrote:Why it wasn't as cost effective to get a Ferry to, you know, Holland when I'm sure one leads off from Southampton I dont know

What does defeat mean to you?
Nothing it will never come. Death before defeat. I don’t bend or break. I end, if I meet a foe capable of it. Victory is in forcing the opponent to back down. I do not. There is no defeat.

We're on the Thomson Celebration:

It's a small cruise ship and this is the trip:

It starts and finishes in Sharm El Sheikh.

You have got to be joking...
Well I'll see you there Ian. Thats my ship. I'm there until December 10 so depending on when your there I'll be cruising with you.
Pyramids, Petra, Dead sea. It is an amazing cruise, you will love it. Probably one of the most amazing places on earth and I've seen some amazing places in the last year.
Feel free to drop me an email if you need to know anything about the ship or what to expect out of the cruises.

If I had wanted to, and they wanted, I could probably manage the Kennedies or TLH. TLH lives pretty much where I was born, and the Kennedies arent that far from me.

Re: Places you've been
We'll be there from 2 Dec until 9 Dec, which sounds like your last week. We were meant to go on it last year but with my father-in-laws illness we had to cancel. I guess I'll see you then.Teaos wrote:You have got to be joking...
