I've seen forums like that. The forum I was a part of before here was like that. I wasn't banned but it just lost interest since we went from several hundred active members to four active members in a one year period. I made the mistake of stopping by a little while ago and quickly was reminded as to why no one uses that forum anymore...

Giantitp is a very healthy online community. It's really nice to post there, as long as you keep away from politics and religion (which gets you major infractions), and you keep civil.
Ultimately, again, I regret losing it, but losing an internet forum isn't the end, and I ended up here

Geesh.....that sounds seriously anally retentive. I get a kick out of watching the insults fly over here. As long as we're not personally threatening each other (ie Blackstar and his hacking threats), nobody really cares too much. And calling each other names is barely noticed.
I've seen Deep and Seafort acting like the Grumpy Old Men, calling each other Morons, Idiots, and Dumbasses in one thread, then ripping the universe by agreeing in another.

Hacking? Try death threats. Pretty anaemic death threats admittedly, and none that anyone took too seriously, but still... That boy had issues.

Can somebody try to have a little fun describing what happened to those who joined only later?

I hereby recommend that we start a Blackstar's greatest hits log. So whenever a newcomer asks about the Chakats antics, we can direct him to one place.
He had some interesting ideas. Such as magic headbands that restrict mind powers, by not actually doing anything, he belived Captain Picard was right in abandoning the Stargazer and allowing it to fall into Ferengi hands, and not destroying it. And let us never forget, his theory about genetically enhanced whales.

Telepathic whales. Enough said.

Not to mention his last hurrah - if you aren't a great artist yourself, you can't comment on art. Followed shortly thereafter by much bitching and moaning about mod abuse of power.

I'll quote what Sionnach Glic quoted to me from when he told Tyyr about him a year or so ago:
Blackstar? He's our resident village idiot. Though he's currently been exiled against his will. His idiocy and inept debating skills are legendary amongst those of us who were here to witness it firsthand. His most famous thread is where he seriously argued that whales are an alien race from a different planet, who send communications back to their homeworld via subspace whalesong, or something.
He was eventualy banned after blatantly lying to one of the Kennedys, and pissed Graham off to the point where he just flatly called for the mods to vote on banning him (and Graham's normaly an extremely lenient guy). Needless to say, the vote was unanimous. After his banning, he then went onto Livejournal where he proceded to rant about us, called for an invasion of the forums (which never happened, shockingly) and attacked several members of the forum, including the one person who'd been backing him up through the whole affair.
Despite it being made quite clear that we don't like him, he still has some sort of obsession with getting back onto the forum. To date, he's made three attempts at signing back in, not including the various bitchy emails he sent Graham to try and get his account reactivated.
And that, class, is the history of the DITL anti-Christ.

Still here because I haven't found anything worth reporting back to her yet.
Want us to fabricate some evidence?
Does that mean you want me to . . . leave?

Don't be silly.
He wants to "fabricate evidence" with you, if you know what I mean...

I didn't interact with him all that much, so I missed most of it. But when I finally had had enough, I posted something taking him to task over his behaviour and basically telling him he was acting like a jerk, and his only chance to avoid a permanent ban was to sort himself out NOW.
His response was to start arguing with me about the definition of the word "jerk".

At some level, he seemed to wanted to become a sort of lightning rod, but one that attracts stupidity rather than lightning.
