Some idiocy in a comic about the Narada being modified by Borg technology that the Romulans had captured.
Non-canon so far as I know (and hope).
That's what I was saying - every single shot seemed to impact the hull.
The same's true of TUC - Abrams seems to have taken Trek back to the old conformal shields.

Oh, sweet Lord.

At least in TUC (IIRC) not every single shot had an explosive effect on the hulls.

Not decided and no matter how stupid it may seem to us, it is still part of the overall storyline. Until someone of importance says it's not canon, I (have to) consider it.

I think we didn't see if the warhead impacted on the hull directly or the brute explosive force overwhelmed the shields at the impact location. After all we get shield counts from officers on both ships, so they must be present.

Oh, it's decided. If it wasn't shown in a TV ep or movie, it's not canon.

I'm just talking about visual effects of the warheads subsequent to impact. The issue I have is that we do get shield counts, but visuals which
look like warheads impacting a naked hull.

Actually, they did - the E-A was decidedly battle-scarred even before she got a hole punched through the saucer.
Look at 3:26 for a good example

OK. I stand corrected.

Also, I'm not entirely sure, but I think with the E, the torp detonated before making contact with the hull.
But I'd need to watch in freeze frame to be sure.

Abrams has stated that
Countdown is not canon.

Of course, now we have to deal with the Sea-Urchin Class mining vessel being Romulan.

Romulans just like big ships, D deredex and the Romulan ships that came to help E.E. were big and the Narada is from that era so it only fits

Remember that the Narada is designed to mine ore, store it, and presumably process it as well. It would have to be big in order to fit all the equipment to do that and also function as a starship.
