I just bought the books, and the more I read this thread, the less I want to read the books.

Re: Destiny Trilogy
I think it sounds interesting, but barring the time travel option, an armada of thousands of Cubes should easily obliterate (or assimilate) the entire Alpha Quadrant...

The Musahsi destroys the cubes by detonating all of its transphasic torpedoes in the middle of the Borg fleet.
Unknown location: Martok leads a 478 ship fleet against a 300+ Borg ship fleet. More than 70 percent of both fleets are destroyed. The remaining Borg ships head to Qo'nos.
Vulcan: The USS Atlas (Sovereign-class) under the command of Morgan Bateson leads a 40 ship against a fleet of 10 Borg Cubes. This is when the Borg finally begin resisting the transphasic torpedoes. Arund this time, Captain Hernandez temporarliy controls the Collective allowing the Atlas, Prometheus, Exeter, and USS Kearsarge destroy the remaining cubes.
Andoria: The USS Malinche (Excelsior-class) and a fleet led by the USS Venture (Galaxy-class) defend Andoria from the Borg. Took place same time as Vulcan
Ardana: The IRW Verithrax defends the from the Borg, but it destroyed in the process.
Beta Rigel: Federation victory
Aldeberan: Talarian victory
Risa: Destroyed by the Borg
Regulus: Draw
Yridia: Unknown
Celes: Unknown
Hyralan: Unknon
Qo'nos: Klingon victory
There is not a problem in this world that can't be solved without the proper application of a sufficient number of thermonuclear ordnance.

Wow. So the Transphasics worked well enough to eliminate at least a good portion of the Borg fleet before they adapted. Still, I'd say time travel would be the best option to eliminate them for good.JudgeKing wrote:Morska: The IKS Sturka (Qang-class) and IKS veScharg'a (Vorcha-class) defend the planet using transphasic torpedoes.Tsukiyumi wrote:So, what was the rest of the Alpha Quadrant doing while a wall of Cubes were sweeping through?

Re: Destiny Trilogy
Time travel's pretty iffy. It seems to create alternate, yet almost identical, realities whenever you travel through time. Sure, you could save a Federation, but the one you came from would still fall to the Borg.

Actually...
SPoilers...
Ardana's saved, and Deneva's wiped out. Not all the cubes were destroyed.
And yeah, Mark. The TR-116's mowed down the Borg.

Re: Destiny Trilogy
So, the writers apparently were came to the same conclusion we did: the Borg don't do well against kinetic attacks that are strong enough to penetrate their armor.RK_Striker_JK_5 wrote:...The TR-116's mowed down the Borg.
Replicate some AA-12's, stat!
And maybe some of these: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b1RvTJBd ... re=related

Re: Destiny Trilogy
In my ST/Sw crossover, standard-issue firearm for the MACO's against the Borg are TR-116's. And I wrote the original version of that a few years ago.[/Nostradamus]
Re: Destiny Trilogy
All in all, it's a really good series. The only thing I didn't care for was what happened to the Borg. I'm not saying anything more about it, but suffice to say, it seemed like it closed more doors than it opened.

Yeah, but it would be fun to see a bunch of them get mowed down by the AA-12.Deepcrush wrote:The more I hear about this, the harder it is for me to want to go read it.

Re: Destiny Trilogy
Honestly, Mark, I'm not sure what else could've been done with the Borg at that point.
Re: Destiny Trilogy
Thats true as well. At that point, with the Federation moments away from destruction, it WOULD take something rather catastrophic. Still yet, I'm not sure I like it. But who knows, it may grow on me. Alot will depend on the follow ups
